Update on Mayor's Story

During last night's city meeting on Sept. 21st, it was announced that on Monday, Sept. 20th, Mayor Joe LaCascia experienced some chest pains while at City Hall and was admitted to the hospital.  The timing of the article we posted earlier on Sept. 21st, the day after the Mayor's admittance to the hospital, was unfortunate.  This information of the Mayor's health condition was not public knowledge until announced at the meeting later that evening.  We wish the Mayor a speedy recovery.

Looking at the 2nd link posted in yesterday's article, detailed information of the case is only available with a subscription to the service, but this was found on the link,"Judge Michael A Ponsor: MEMORANDUM AND ORDER entered. As Follows: Defendants Motion to Dismiss (Dkt. No. 27 ) is hereby ALLOWED. This case may now be closed. It is So Ordered."

In attempt to get further explanation of the accusations and outcome of the lawsuit mentioned in the previous post, this additional information was found:
Victory for the District Mass. Attorney General Orders Compliance by Prudential Committee with Mass. Low Bid Laws

By posting the first article, we are NOT ACCUSING THE MAYOR OF WRONG DOING.  This is not intended to be an "Assassination of Character" as stated my Vice Mayor/Acting City Manager Trudy Block.  We are simply looking for facts and posting what we found.  In our opinion, just being PERCEIVED as being a key figure in obviously questionable practices does ask us to question issues of character and ethics.  Especially with Polk City's history of questionable ethics of previous City Officials, it should be expected that new City Officials would be subject to thorough background checks to prevent future tarnishing of the city's image.

If additional information is found, please post a link in your comments.

  1. I HAVE TO WONDER WHY THE MAYOR'S WIFE WOULD ATTEND THIS MEETING INSTEAD OF BEING WITH HER HUSBAND. ANYONE CAN GET ADMITTED TO A HOSPITAL. I REALLY THINK THE PEOPLE OF POLK CITY LIKE TO BE USED AND ABUSED. YOU BETTER WAKE UP SOON. THE SHIP IS TAKING ON MORE WATER THEN YOU CAN DRAIN. IN TIME THE COUNTY WILL GET US BACK AND YOU WILL SEE A BIG DIFFERENCE. LET'S GET THIS ON THE ELECTION BALLOT. DO WE WANT POLK CITY OR SHOULD IT BE DISMISSED.

  2. I say let the people decide what they want "city or county". Its not hard to do. Put it in a ballot. We will respect the final numbers. Then we can all move forward. The acting city manager/council member we have today are trying to decrease as much as they can, but when we hire an city manager she/he comes in with their owns ideas and views for the city. Then we fall into council members voting yes all the time. I question that block grant again. I understood it was for new free sewer lines. Can that part be explained. PC resident.

  3. He is not in the hospital, he is afraid to show his face after being exposed. He should step down now along with the rest of the clowns.

  4. I thought I lived among neighbors that were compassionate and caring. Shame on you!

Exposed???? The entire truth was not told even when it was among the "public information" that was clearly stated on the posted link. You were wrong...a public apology is due not merely an update.

There is not one among us that is proud of every aspect of our lives. Search hard enough and you can get enough enough information to manipulate to make a case for anything or anyone. Every Sunday churches worldwide worship One whose information was manipulated for personal agendas.

Who will ever volunteer to lead Polk City again when they see what your group has done to our current dedicated leaders in the name of "What is best for Concerned Citizens of Polk City?"

Again, I say, "SHAME ON YOU!!!"

  5. Is there a copy of the budget that can be posted here. I would like to see where all the revenue is coming from and exactly where it is being spent????? they say it is a balanced budget. How can that happen when they just raped all the existing funds to pay the two payments to the county.
    Thanks Ann

  6. Send emails to the commissioners in Bartow. I typed an email and copied it into an email for each council member...worth the time and effort. If the mayor is faking it, then he will someday have to account for his actions. Trust this Texan...God's justice is even better than Texas justice, and Texas is known as the "fry 'em" state since it has more executions than any other state. Texas

  7. it is not about caring neighbors, trudy, it is about neighbors that want to hear the truth.you are getting to be a good actress as well as a corrupt government official. they always say they can be a clean as can be when they go into office but they will become corrupt.

  8. Common, its interesting that you should go on about caring neighbors and compassion in discussing what you percieve to be personal attacks on the current administration. The current administration had no problem of their own personally attacking the former administration who did the best they could given the complete absence of public input even when it solicted time and time again. Slightly hypocritical don't you think?
