  1. Yes Joe I'm AnonymousOctober 30, 2010 at 3:19 PM

Thats great. The city circus leaders are getting this grant so that they can float the money and pay off other bills. They will probably use the money to pay the money they owe to Polk County and then worry about paying this back later. I feel something big on the horizon....County officials are getting their ducks in a row to flush Polk City right down the sewer plant they cant afford to pay for. It shouldnt take much convincing to show the state how bad things really are, then this nightmare will be over. Dont worry Joe and Trudy, I hear the Barnum and Bailey Circus needs people just like you, and with your prior experience you should have no problem working under the Big Top.

  2. The person who posted the previous comment on this grant OBVIOUSLY has not attended any of the meetings concerning this grant. The money MUST be used for the advertised purpose. It is monitored by a third party and is accounted for by the third party. You people who post these comments without any thought or common sense are really starting to make me sick. The people who live in the area where the new water lines are proposed to go really need them. But that doesn't seem to matter to you, all you want to do is slam the people who are trying to help, you have no concern for anyone else but yourselves. I wouldn't have believed it if I didn't hear for myself; a man at the last council meeting actually state he didn't care about "them". News flash...the "them" he was talking about are the people who need these new water lines. Although I'm sure if the shoe was on the other foot you would have the new water lines without any question. As far as the County goes I would caution not to count your "duck eggs" before they hatch!!

  3. What happens if the city doesn't get this grant this time? Will the CITY then have to pay for the much needed replacement of these water lines or will it be put on the back burner? Polk City applied for this same grant 2 years ago as well, and was not awarded this grant. It cannot be applied for in another 2 years, if we we are passed over this time.

  4. So I guess we should all be for re-distribution of wealth. Seems like the council uses this when it is suits them. But there was little concern when they raised our water rates. How do these poor people pay for that. Or worry about depleting the city funds to pay late payments on the sewer plant and now borrowing or as they call it restructuring debt to get enough money to run the city. So none of us who have worked so hard to retire should not want them to decide how our dollars are spent. We are only supose to sit back and let them help all the poor folks on our dime and shut up and say nothing. I thought this was the USA.
They don't seem to understand that grants are not free. Where do you think the money comes from. The government !!!!!!! From the taxes we pay.

  5. Funny how you don't hear the nastiness coming from "them". "They" do pay their bills, "they" understand that the current administration is trying to help. "They" understand this is 100% grant money that is FREE. "They" want to save their City that they have lived in for generations. And yes, a lot of "them" are also retired!!

  6. Sounds like Trudy is back on the blog spewing her usual propoganda. No money is FREE! First of all, the money comes from US, the taxpayers. If the grant money runs out in the middle of the project, who's going to pay to finish it? US the taxpayers. CHICAGO-STYLE politics is what it looks like to me.

  7. Nope, not Trudy, just someone who appreciates what she is trying to do. Obviously this discussion is going nowhere. I can't imagine what it must be like to live such a miserable existance and to always look for the bad in things. Good luck to you!

  8. So lets say this grant is free and these good people get water and sewer lines in front of their houses. Are they going to be forced to hook up at their own expense from the common area to their houses?? About 20 years ago a similar situation happened in a subdivision and the owners were forced to hook up at their own expense from the road to their house. The cost at that time was over $ 10,000. These good people better get the full story up front.

  9. "Nope, not Trudy" people in Polk City ARE "THE PEOPLE" as in "We the People...". When the folks that should be representing us seem to be playing shell games with our dollars, trust has been broken. Polk City residents are weary of the shell games and want those in positions of leadership to lead not deceive. The coucil meeting of Oct.25 was truely deception in action. When asked why a million plus dollars were needed we were given a half-baked answer of "why not? it's such a good interest rate". Anonymous, I too wish you good luck, and let's all go vote on Tuesday and vote FOR proposed constitutional amendment 4...take back our city a step at a time!
    God bless America! Texas

  10. How does this city council think the people feel about what they are trying to do? How do you thing the city counsel is perceived in general? My take is that they are driven by there own egos in their position of power. They are elected to listen to the people and do whats best for the people. Higher taxes, higher utilities, no police protection, poorly maintained roads and common areas, lying, cheating, stealing, manipulating, condescending, belittling, and ignorant to the peoples voice. They do not represent the people, they represent themselves. So my impression is they are terrible people. They are stupid for believing they can salvage the situation, they are foolish for keeping up the act of everythings ok. They are retarded for thinking they can continue to treat us this way. Joes the crook and Trudys the puppet and I hate that I live in a city run by retards. Go back to New Jersey and Chicago and leave our town alone, retards.

  11. By the by....if Mayor Joe is blogging...I have yet to see HIS name used...doesn't his office require him to be transparent...no, he only expects that of us while refusing to tell us who he is...unbelievable!Texas (and that's all Joe needs to know)

  12. The people in the area that are supposed to receive the new water lines are existing customers, which means they already have City water....the lines that will be replaced are the main lines. There is NO expense to the customers, and there is NO plan for sewer, only replacing very old water lines. "These good people" from this area DO HAVE THE FULL STORY!!

  13. When it comes to this city, nobody has the full story. Im starting to feel like this is a dictatorship, like Im living in Russia. It will be a happy day when the current administration is out of office and we have people in there who listen to the tax payers. Im also sick of all of Trudy's bullshit, in person and on this blog. Do you think just because we live in the country that automatically makes us stupid? Think again. Your time will come and the people will have the last laugh, hopefully you all go out in handcuffs.

  15. You know, I don’t know why y’all are complaining about the current council and administration. This is what you wanted. You wanted the previous council and city manager gone. Well now they are. On top of that the new group up there fired anybody who knew anything. The rest are suck ups or idiots. How’s that change working out for ya? You are the people that put them in office, y’all should be thrilled. Instead you are still whining. Well you know what suck it up – cause it aint getting any better anytime soon.

  16. This is addressed to "You know" who posted the previous comment. Let's not forget that this new group "up there" was not elected by anyone. They were appointed by the previous administration. Every one on the council never gave a "campaign speech" to let the public know what their vision is for Polk City. It is now crystal clear they have their own personal ambitions in mind when they volunteered to run this city. The Mayor & Vice Mayor are on a personal power trip. It is de'ja vu all over again, except these two are more arragant, smart, and their lack of experience makes them dangerous. They use a "Chicago Style" of governing where the voices of the people are not heard.

  17. Cant the people demand a "recall" and get the pretenders out of office? Cant we have a special election to vote for people who will actually represent our voices, needs, and opinions? We are the people, we are entitled to fair representation.
