New Ledger Article on Subcontracting Utilities

Polk City May Give Up Managing Utilities

  1. Let me get this straight. First, there is no normal public notice of a city meeting, only a flyer hung in the post office over a holiday weekend. Second, the Ledger drops this bomb shell story the day before the meeting so that the meeting itself has little exposure, And third, a third party utility company is going to agree to take over our utilities with the pending suit going on with Mount Olive and the county. This sounds like corruption at its finest. There is no way any reputable company would agree to take over these utilities while the city is involved in the legal mess theyre in. I wonder if this company has any affiliation with Beckett Woods? I wonder if theyve worked with the mayor previously? And what happened with the city billing its customers for millions of gallons of water that were never pumped? I guess the loan fell through and now the city is trying a corrupt business deal to save its ass. Election time cant come soon enough.
