anyone that would work for nothing has some bottles missing from the 6 pack. or they were promised something. i would not be very proud to call a city manager to find out what to do. if you don't know then you should be looking else where. sorry i can not praise someone that would work for nothing.
The Ledger article is full of praise for the leadership that Ms. Trudy Block offered Polk City during her 10 month tenure as Interim City Manager since June, 2010. She is absolutely worthy of recognition for her outstanding dedication for no monetary reward. However, if she would have submitted her resume to fill the position of City Manager, she would not have been hired, since she had absolutely no experience or knowledge of how to run a city. Instead, she received a crash course in political science and gained personal enrichment at little personal expense. Her accomplishments are definitely a subject for debate.
If one thinks that she saved Polk City from the brink of financial disaster, one is terribly mistaken. The numbers might look good on paper, but just ask how the average citizen of Polk City has benefited from her leadership. The savings that were realized by laying off knowledgeable city employees have no doubt been spent on an expensive attorney who bills at an hourly rate, with no annual cap. It is safe to say that Tom Cloud has been running the city according to his master plan which he has followed in the past, advising several other Florida cities on the brink of financial ruin. All he does is change the name of the city on the documents, (and forgetting to change one at times). As in other past ventures, he has not forgotten to included his good friend, Gerald Hartman, of GAI to do the engineering, and his buddies at Woodard & Curran to receive the outsourcing contract for the city's utilities. Our city officials have trusted blindly, since no one who was left had any idea how to run a city. Polk City's residents are left with a never-ending debt over the next 30 - 40 years, and no end in sight for the sky-high water/sewer rates, fees, and taxes.
she didn't save as much as she thinks. stop and think this way, you let people go but give the job to outsource. they don't do it for nothing. so ms. block quit patting yourself on your back when all the time you are putting a knife in ours. someday people in polk city will wake up and get rid of these so called politicians that have only there own interest at heart.
