What are other local city residents paying for Taxes compared to Polk City?

DOUBLE CLICK ON CHART TO ENLARGE
Here is proof that Polk City is too small to support the cost of running a small city. With combined city and county taxes, Polk City residents are proposed to pay nearly a 25% millage rate!! Insanity!! The worst part of it is that Polk City residents have less ammenities than other local cities charging far less. Polk City cannot even afford to maintain what it does have. Sad. It is time for the city to dissolve so it's residents can have better services for far less expense.

  1. To operate successfuly a city needs a solid base of commercial properties which Polk City does not have. This means that there is a very heavy burden placed on the residents of this small town in which the average home values and income of it's residents are far below the national average. The proposed Nabors, Giblin & Nickerson plan to develop a refinancing plan could cost the city $25,000 to $35,000, Mayor LaCascia said. This plan would allow the city to pay SOME existing and FUTURE debt, but is based on putting an annual assessment on local property tax bills for at least 10 - 15 years. Properties, both INSIDE and OUTSIDE the city limits that are part of the municipal water and sewer service area can expect to be included in this assessment. This plan will be set up to pay off the city's existing $10 million in debts and to finance up to an ADDITIONAL $10 MILLION for public works projects during the next 10 years. DO WE REALLY WANT TO GO DOWN THAT ROAD????
